Lacet Terms of Service

Last updated: 20 July 2026

These Terms of Service ("Terms") are an agreement between you and HUBER BROTHERS LTD, a company registered in England and Wales ("Lacet", "we", "us"), for your use of the Lacet iPhone app and its related backend services (the "Service"). By using Lacet, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

For how we handle your personal data, see our Privacy Policy.

1. What Lacet is

Lacet turns the mountain passes ("cols") you climb into a collection. It imports your rides automatically from a connected Wahoo or Strava account, matches them against a catalogue of cols, and records which cols you have climbed, your times, and other achievements. You can add friends through invite links, compare climbs, react to each other's activity, and take part in challenges.

Lacet does not record your rides itself — it relies on the ride data you import from Wahoo or Strava.

Lacet is currently free. It has no ads and no in-app purchases. If this changes, we will announce it in the app before it takes effect.

2. Who can use Lacet

You must be at least 16 years old to use Lacet. (We have set 16 as a sensible default; the operator may change this minimum age in a future version of these Terms.) You must also have the legal capacity to agree to these Terms.

3. Your account

You sign in to Lacet using Sign in with Apple only. You are responsible for keeping your Apple ID secure and for the activity that happens under your account. You choose a display name (up to 50 characters) that other users may see.

4. Acceptable use and user content

You may create content in Lacet — for example your display name, challenge titles, and reactions. When you do, you agree that your content will not:

Moderation and enforcement. Lacet includes tools to keep the community civil. You can block another user (which severs and prevents contact between you) and report users or content to us. We may review reports and, at our discretion, remove content or suspend or terminate accounts that break these Terms or abuse the Service.

5. Third-party ride sources

Lacet works by connecting to Wahoo and Strava. Those connections are governed by Wahoo's and Strava's own terms and privacy policies, and you must comply with them. Your relationship with Wahoo and Strava for the data you hold with them is between you and those providers. We are not responsible for their services, and they may change or withdraw access to their data at any time.

When you disconnect a provider, the app behaves as described in the Privacy Policy: disconnecting Strava permanently deletes the rides imported from it (as the Strava API Agreement requires), while disconnecting Wahoo keeps the rides already imported until you delete your account.

6. Ownership and licences

Your ride data

You keep all rights you have in your own ride data. By using the Service, you grant Lacet a limited, non-exclusive licence to store, process and display that data as needed to run the app's features — including computing your collection and records and showing your climbing activity to the friends you have accepted. This licence exists only to provide the Service to you and ends when you delete the data or your account.

The app and the catalogue

The Lacet app, its design, and the col catalogue are owned by us or our licensors and are protected by law. You may use them only through the Service as intended.

Catalogue data attribution

The col catalogue is built from open data. Attribution is provided in the app's Licenses & Attribution screen, including:

7. Safety — read this before you ride

Cycling in the mountains is inherently dangerous. Your safety is your responsibility.

The information in Lacet is provided to help you enjoy climbing cols, but it is informational only and may be incomplete, out of date or wrong. This includes gradients, distances, climb times, road and surface descriptions, and seasonal closure information. Roads change, conditions change, and our data can be inaccurate.

You are solely responsible for your own conduct and safety, and for the safety of others, while cycling.

8. No warranty

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, to the fullest extent permitted by Swiss law. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any data it shows (including anything from the catalogue) is accurate or complete.

9. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by Swiss law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages, or for loss of data, arising out of or in connection with your use of the Service. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited under Swiss law, including liability for personal injury caused by our unlawful intent or gross negligence.

10. Changes to the Service

The Service is evolving. We may add, change or remove features, and we may suspend or discontinue the Service, at any time. Because Lacet is free today, we do not owe you a refund; if we introduce paid features, we will announce them in the app first.

11. Termination

You may stop using Lacet at any time and delete your account from within the app, which permanently erases your data. We may suspend or terminate your access if you break these Terms or abuse the Service. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (such as ownership, disclaimers, limitation of liability and governing law) continue to apply.

12. Governing law and jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. The courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from these Terms or the Service, subject to any mandatory consumer-protection rules that give you the right to bring a claim in your place of residence.

13. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you in the app. Your continued use of the Service after the changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
